Four hikers walk into the bush, three hikers drive back to town.
High above Hobart on the side of Mount Wellington, a secret is exposed sending Mark into a violent frenzy. When his madness subsides he flees down a small animal track leaving his three friends to cope in the aftermath.
Over the following weeks the fallout of that hike reverberates across the lives of friends, spouses, employees and the detectives tasked with solving a murder. Betrayals deepen and suspicions are reinforced as everyone tries to understand exactly what happened to Mark that day on the mountain.
